↔️ Text Justifier

Justify your text to a specified width by distributing extra spaces between words. Full justification for monospace formatting, ASCII art, or print-style layout — all in your browser, no upload, instant results.

About the Text Justifier

This text justifier runs entirely in your browser. It takes your text and a target line width, then distributes extra spaces between words so that each line reaches the specified width — just like full justification in word processors, but for plain text. Ideal for monospace fonts, ASCII art, terminal output, or print-style layouts. Nothing is uploaded — the justification happens instantly with JavaScript on your device.

How it works

  • Word wrapping — Words are gathered into lines that do not exceed the specified width. A line is built until adding the next word would overflow.
  • Space distribution — For each line (except the last), extra spaces are distributed evenly between words to fill the line to the target width.
  • Last line — The final line is left-aligned (left-justified) without extra spacing, following standard typography conventions.

How to use the justifier

  1. Paste or type your text in the input box.
  2. Set the desired line width in characters (default 80).
  3. Click Justify Text to align.
  4. The justified result appears in the output box.
  5. Click Copy to copy the result, or Clear to start over.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool upload my text? No. All justification happens locally in your browser. Your text never leaves your device.

Why does the output look uneven in proportional fonts? Full justification for plain text works best with monospace fonts where every character has the same width. In proportional fonts, the visual alignment may appear uneven.

What happens to very long words? Words longer than the target width are placed on their own line and left as-is, since they cannot be broken without hyphenation.

Are paragraphs preserved? Paragraph breaks (double newlines) are preserved. Each paragraph is justified independently.
